We spent some time observing pictures of snowflakes with the magnifying glass. The girls noticed that the snowflakes were all very different but similar too! We practiced our fine motor skills by cutting snowflakes out of coffee filters and drew a black pen drawing of the details they noticed on different snowflakes. After the girls created their one of a kind ice crystals, they were asked to write a descriptive word or sentence about their creations. We love seeing the smiles on their faces when they accomplish their work!
Snowflakes have 6 sides! - Blair
As part of our snowflake study, we have been talking about symmetry. Each girl created their own snowflake by using the mirror on the light table. They crafted one half of a snowflake on a mirror and they could see the symmetrical reflection in on the other side. They thought this was pretty cool!!
What will melt the ice the fastest?
This week, the girls had a chance to investigate to what will melt ice. First, the girls observed what ice looks and feels like. Then, they made predictions as to what would melt the ice. Would it be sugar or salt? Would it be warm water?
