Ms. Holcomb & Mrs. Childress
We are beyond thrilled to have fourteen wonderful new friends to experience this JK year together. We hope this year is full of joy, learning, and friendship.
The girls then collaborated to create a list of what we hope to remember when spending time together. We called this list our agreements. The girls then illustrated a picture of themselves and signed to state they agree
What is a name?
E- A name is somebody calls you that name.
R-They look at you and know your name.
C- If you forget someone’s name you can tell it back to them.
I- If you find a new friend you tell them what your name is.
Why are names important?
J- So people can know your name If you get lost they can call your name to help find you.

L- My mommy’s name is Lynn and that’s kind of like Lindy!!
K- All of my family has Coleman at the end of our name.
In JK we focus on not only what letters are in our name but also the correct order of letters and appropriate capitalization of the letters. Below you will see many ways we furthered our study through exploration and artistic expression.

Connecting to Nature:
Next, we ventured out the farm to continue our conversation. There the girls discovered and experienced cotton plants, okra, tomatoes, peppers, and various types of flowers. We connected to our story by inviting the girls to plant a flower of their own. The girls planted helianthus seeds which is another name for sunflowers. "Helianthus is a silly name like Chrystanthemum's long name!"- JK student. We can’t wait to visit the farm soon and check on their progress.
Welcome to our JK class! We are a group of busy bees having fun and learning so much. We cant wait to share our projects and fun happenings with you here!
